What to Expect on Your First Week at Coquitlam College
Starting a new semester at Coquitlam College is an exciting milestone—whether you’re joining us from high school, transferring from another institution, or arriving from abroad. Your first week on campus will help you settle in, find your footing, and prepare for success throughout the term.
Getting Oriented with Your New Campus
We recommend arriving early on your first day to explore the campus, locate your classrooms, and get comfortable with your surroundings. Staff at the Registrar’s Office, located at the front desk, are available to answer your questions and help you navigate your schedule. Directional signs are posted throughout the building, and our security team is always happy to point you in the right direction.
If you’d like a guided tour, just ask at the Registrar’s Office. Our Student Engagement Coordinator, Susan, is available to take new students on a campus walk-through and provide helpful tips for getting started.
Meeting Instructors and Classmates
The first week of classes is all about introductions—getting to know your instructors, meeting classmates, and reviewing your course outlines. These outlines will give you a clear idea of what to expect: assignments, grading criteria, classroom policies, and important dates.
Many of our instructors hold PhDs and also teach at institutions such as UBC and SFU. They’re passionate about their fields and deeply committed to student learning. Don’t hesitate to ask questions or seek clarification—they’re here to support your academic journey.
Accessing Support Services
Adjusting to college life can take time, and we’re here to support you along the way. Students are encouraged to take advantage of the many services available on campus, including:
-
