From Advising: Application Process Guide
Today’s blog post is written Academic Advisor Sarah Pike:
Applying to Coquitlam College doesn’t need to be complicated. To help you stay on track, here’s a simple breakdown of the application steps and the most important deadlines you need to know.
Step 1: Review Admission Requirements
Before you begin your application, make sure you meet the admission requirements for your program. Each program — whether it’s High School, University Transfer, or an Associate Degree — has its own criteria. Be ready to gather:
-
Official transcripts
-
Proof of English proficiency (if needed)
- A copy of your passport or government-issued ID
Advisor Tip: Double-check your documents early. Missing or incomplete paperwork is the most common cause of delays.
Step 2: Submit Your Application
You can apply online through our Online Application. The application will ask you to:
- Provide personal and academic information
- Upload your documents
- Pay the 200$ non-refundable application fee
Advisor Tip: Apply as soon as you can — the earlier you apply, the more time you’ll have to prepare for registration, study permits, and course planning.
Step 3: Wait for Your Admission Decision
Once submitted, your application will be reviewed by our Admissions team. If anything is missing, you’ll be contacted by email.
Advisor Tip: Keep a close eye on your inbox (including your junk folder). Important updates and next steps will always come by email.
Step 4: Accept Your Offer
If you’re admitted, you’ll receive an official Letter of Offer (LOO).
For international students, the Letter of Offer will include your tuition deposit amount. Once this deposit is paid, you’ll be issued a Letter of Acceptance (LOA) and a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL). These documents are required when applying for a study permit. To secure your place at Coquitlam College, be sure to confirm your acceptance by paying the tuition deposit listed in your offer.
Advisor Tip: Don’t wait until the last minute to pay your deposit — paying early helps you register for your preferred courses sooner.
Step 5: Prepare for Registration
Once your tuition deposit is received, you’ll be able to register for courses. This is where Academic Advisors like me come in — we can help you select courses that match your program requirements and future goals.
Advisor Tip: Book an advising appointment early. Course seats can fill up quickly, and we want to make sure you’re on track from the start.
