General Admission Requirements
To be considered for admission, applicants must meet the following general requirements:
- English Language Proficiency – Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in the English language (see English Language Proficiency Requirements).
- Program-Specific Requirements – Applicants must meet the academic qualifications and/or GPA requirements specific to their chosen program.
- Legal Authorization to Study – Applicants must have Canadian citizenship or legal authorization to study in Canada, such as a valid study permit.
English is the primary language of instruction at Coquitlam College. Before you’re admitted, you must demonstrate a minimum level of English. If you don’t meet the requirement, we offer English courses to help you qualify.
Program Specific Requirements
To enter our University Transfer Program, you must have the following:
- High school graduation or equivalent
- Mature student status
To enter our Associate of Arts Program, you must have at least one of the following:
- High school graduation or equivalent
- Vocational/technical/polytechnic diploma with 60% or higher average
- Mature student status in combination with one of the above qualifications
To enter our high school program (grades 10-12), you must have at least one of the following:
- Successful completion of Grade 9 or equivalent
- Be at least 15 years of age at the start of the semester
- Mature student status in combination with one of the above qualifications
To be enter our English studies program, you must have at least one of the following:
- Be at least 15 years of age at the start of the semester
- Mature student status
Note: Applicants are responsible for providing all official documentation, such as transcripts and English proficiency, when an application is submitted or as soon as possible thereafter. For those students who have not provided official documentation, their student file is considered incomplete until all official documentation is provided to the Office of the Registrar. With an incomplete file, students may experience delays in processing official documents and graduation-related paperwork.
