How to use EditPad Lite

Text version

EditPad - A (free) Text Editor

Download and install EditPad Lite

Test that EditPad is working correctly on your machine by following these simple instructions

Start up EditPad (click on the Start button on the desktop, and select EditPad from Programs).

Select File -> Save As... and then select the folder to save your file to.

Note: If you're creating a file from a Coquitlam College lab machine,
      you need to save to the C:\temp folder.

In the File name: textbox, type in first.html

Your file will be saved in your chosen folder with a file name of first.html

Type in the following text exactly as shown here:

<html>
<head>
<title>The Year of the Dog</title>
</head>
<body>
<h1>The Year of the Dog</h1>
by Anne H. Dawson <b>Cert.Ed.,B.Sc.(Hons),M.Sc.,Ph.D.</b>
</body>
</html>

Now select File -> Save All

The latest version of your file is now saved.

You may now quit EditPad, and view your first.html file in a web browser.

This concludes the instructions to edit and save a text file.
